The federal government has approved a new $1,390 stimulus payment to help families and individuals cover essential expenses as prices continue to climb in 2025.

What Is This New $1,390 Stimulus Payment?

This one-time payment is designed to help Americans manage the rising costs of food, rent, utilities, and healthcare.

Unlike earlier stimulus checks tied to emergencies, this payment focuses on helping households manage the everyday challenges of inflation and a slowing economy.

 

Who Will Get the $1,390 Stimulus Check?

You may qualify if you meet income limits or receive certain benefits.

Income Limits:

  • Single filers: Up to $75,000 per year

  • Married couples filing jointly: Up to $150,000 per year

  • Heads of household: Up to $112,500 per year

Automatic Payments for Social Security recipientsSSI (Supplemental Security Income) recipients, and Veterans receiving VA benefits.

If you are in these groups, you don’t need to apply! The payment will be processed automatically.

 

When Will the Stimulus Payments Arrive?

Payments are expected to start arriving between August and September 2025, depending on your payment method:

  • Direct Deposit: Fastest option for those with bank details on file with the IRS or SSA.

  • Paper Check or Prepaid Card: May take longer to arrive by mail.

To avoid delays, make sure your bank and address details are updated on the IRS or SSA websites.
